MEET OUR TEACHERS!
Ms. Sami (Lead Toddler Teacher)
Ms. Sami was born in Florida but moved to the Triangle at a very young age and has grown up in the Raleigh – Durham area since. She has recently graduated from East Carolina University with a degree is Developmental Services for Children and a minor in Psychology. In addition to being our toddler teacher she also involved in coaching gymnastics and has been coaching for ten years. She has worked with all ages and has fallen in love with the toddlers. She enjoys going to the beach with family and friends and loves playing with her dog, Harvey. She is new to our team but is very excited to provide fun and high energy experiences for the children.
Ms Kerri (Assistant Toddler Teacher)
Ms. Kerri moved to Raleigh as a young child with her family in 1978 and has called the area home ever since. She graduated from Peace College (now William Peace University) and North Carolina State University. She uses her Bachelor of Arts in English both as a writer and as a teacher. For some years she taught elementary school age children local history and has extensive experience in fostering a creative learning environment. Ms. Kerri attends church at Windborne and happily spends a part of every Sunday with the children in the nursery. She enjoys cooking and reading, and spends much time knitting and crocheting, which she also teaches to people of all ages.
Ms. Kerri is delighted to be a part of Windborne Preschool and is grateful to share in this precious portion of a child's journey.
Ms. Lauren (Lead Twos Teacher)
Ms. Lauren grew up in North Raleigh and has a BS degree in Child Development and Family Studies from UNC-G. She has over 20 years of teaching experience, the last 13 of which have been with two-year olds. This will be her fifth year teaching at Windborne Preschool. She and her husband, Tam, have two daughters, both married, and enjoy spending time with their two granddaughters. Her hobbies include knitting, crossword puzzles, and reading. In her spare time she loves finding bargains at thrift stores and spending time with family.
Ms. Brooke (Assistant Twos Teacher)
Ms. Brooke is from Winston-Salem, NC and graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor's degree in History. Having spent her early career in the banking industry, Ms. Brooke previously lived in Atlanta and Charlotte before settling down in Raleigh with her family. Ms. Brooke is married to Drew and together they have two children. Her son is 13 and in seventh grade and her daughter is 8 and in second grade. When she is not at preschool, Ms. Brooke enjoys volunteering at her kids' schools, spending time with friends, traveling with family and escaping the house for an occasional date with her husband.
Ms. Brooke previously worked with two year olds at another preschool and is excited to start a new path in her teaching journey here at Windborne Preschool!
Ms. Hayley (Lead Threes Teacher)
Ms Hayley is originally from Connecticut and moved to North Carolina 9 years ago with her family. She is the oldest of six and has one sister and four brothers. Children have always been a part of her life and she highly enjoys working with them in a classroom setting. She has an Associates in Early Childhood Education and has been working in preschool settings on and off for two years. Ms. Hayley recently got married in May of 2018 and she and her husband live in Raleigh. She met her husband at their home church, and they have been together for three years. Ms Hayley is excited to start this new teaching journey at Windborne Preschool!
Ms. Hunter (Assistant Threes Teacher)
Ms Hunter was born in Maiden, NC and has been resident in Raleigh for four years. She is married to her best friend, Jon, and has three children: Ryley, Heath, and Everly. She has her Associates Degree in Early Childhood: Teacher Associate Concentration from CVCC. She also has her Early Childhood Credentials. She has fourteen years teaching experience in childcare and she has worked in GCPS for a year as a teacher assistant for special needs children. During her free time she enjoy going to the mountains and spending time with family and friends. Ms. Hunter is glad to be part of the Windborne community.
Ms. Tara (Pre-K Lead Teacher)
Ms Tara is originally from Southern California, but moved to Raleigh with her husband 13
years ago. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature at Trinity Western University in
British Columbia, Canada, and went on to earn her teaching credential from California State
University of Long Beach. She taught various elementary grades for 8 years before taking time
off to be with her two daughters, Claire (10) and Camden (9). For the past 4 years, Tara has
worked at her daughters’ school in various positions, most recently as a kindergarten
Instructional Assistant. In her free time, she loves to travel, spend time with her family and read.
Tara has a special love for teaching early literacy and is thrilled to be joining the Windborne
family as the Pre-K teacher.
Ms. Hannah (Assistant Pre-K Teacher)
Shortly after graduating from the University of Maine in 2012 with her degree in Child Development and Family Relations, Hannah moved to North Carolina and hasn't looked back! This New England native has been working with children in many different capacities for over half her lifetime. Her primary focus in the classroom is guiding children in problem solving, expressing creativity and in discovering their own interests but she stands by the fact that she learns just as much from the children as they learn from her!
Hannah and her partner Alex have two young children both of whom attend Windborne Preschool; Everleigh Reese age 3 and Baker Wade age 1. This year will be Hannah’s 6th year teaching at Windborne and she is thrilled to continue to be a member of this truly special community as both a parent and a teacher.
Ms Shannon (Specials Teacher)
Ms Shannon is from Fayetteville, NC and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education. She has called Raleigh home for the past twenty years. Ms. Shannon taught in various educational settings over ten years before deciding to take time off to stay at home with her children. She lives with her husband, Ray, and three children, Carly (13), Lucas (8), and Natalie (6). Ms. Shannon is excited to take a step back into teaching at Windborne!
Ms Audrey (Specials Teacher)
Ms. Audrey is one of the few people who can say they are from this area. Yes, a true NC native!
She is married to her best friend, Troy. They are proud parents of a daughter and son. Ms Audrey enjoys reading, traveling, going to UNC football and basketball games, and spending time with her family.
She attended Emmanuel College in Georgia and received her early childhood credentials from Wake Tech Community College. She has worked in early childhood for over twenty years and strongly believes that kids learn by using all five senses. When kids can touch, smell, feel, hear, and taste things they can grasp the concept of any given topic. Ms Audrey is excited to be part of the “Specialist Team” here at Windborne Preschool.
Ms. Robyn (Director)
Robyn is originally from Western New York, where she graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) college at Fredonia with a degree in Elementary Education. She moved to North Carolina to teach and met her (NY native) husband here. However, she now considers herself an honorary southerner after living here for over 20 years. Robyn has taught in various elementary grades in both Halifax and Wake County, and has also been a reading intervention teacher. She has also served as an educational director at a local tutoring center. After some time away from teaching to raise her two sons, (currently 10 and 8 years old) she returned to education, and eventually joined the Windborne Preschool family as the director.
